A freshman wide receiver saved Michigan State from disaster.

In the second quarter, Tyler O’Connor threw a pass up for grabs to receiver Donnie Corley. What looked like was going to be Notre Dame’s second interception near the end zone turned into six points for the Spartans after Corley wrestled the ball away from the Irish defender.

It was a heck of a play for a freshman playing in his first nationally televised game:

Michigan State would convert a two-point conversion to take its first lead of the contest at 8-7. The reception was the third of the season for Corley and the first touchdown of his career.
