Urban Meyer may not have been a head coach the past two years, but he has still impacted the game of football during that time.

Having served as an analyst for FOX since leaving Ohio State following the 2018 season, Meyer has been a rare breath of fresh (and dignified air) on the network. Earlier this week, Meyer became head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, his first coaching job at any level in the NFL.

FOX did a nice tribute for Meyer on Friday, underscoring his impact on their BIG Noon Kickoff broadcast:

As pregame shows have become increasingly insufferable and analysts resorting to wacky behavior and taking insane opinions merely to grab headlines, the three-time national champion head coach never resorted to that level of discourse or tomfoolery.

Instead, Meyer walked a very fine line. As an analyst, he remained serious and purposeful in peeling back the curtain on bigtime college football. He gave perspective and insight that few could provide given his impressive resume.

But Meyer was also willing to have fun. He laughed with the guests and his fellow co-hosts and was willing to poke fun at himself. In fact, his self-deprecating humor was a real eye opener.

Instead of talking down to viewers he elevated their understanding of the game (and business) of college football.

While his move from the studio to the sideline always seemed inevitable, it was fun to watch Meyer truly represent himself well and provide tremendous value to viewers on Saturday mornings.

Also, who could really go for a trip to Wendy’s right now?
