Drew Brees has given the New Orleans Saints the lead Sunday evening, putting a rough start behind him coming out of halftime.

Much of the first half of the game between the Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a bit of a defensive struggle. Brees also struggled a bit, throwing an interception without a touchdown in the first half.

In fact, the only touchdown scored by New Orleans came on a trick play with backup quarterback Jameis Winston throwing a 56-yard score.

Directly out of halftime, Brees and the Saints offense was much more efficient, rolling 75 yards on 10 plays. Brees also capped the drive with a beautifully placed throw to Tre’Quan Smith for 16 yards and the touchdown.

The touchdown made it 20-13, New Orleans, in the third quarter. The lead is nice for the Saints, but there is still a ways to go to finish this one off.

Prior to the game, FOX’s NFL reporter Jay Glazer reported that this would Drew Brees’ last game in the Superdome, indicating Brees will indeed retire at season’s end. Brees will look to put that end off for at least one more game.
