Buckeyes DT taking advantage of additional year of eligibility, will return to Ohio State

Ohio State’s defensive line will get some much needed depth and experience returning for the 2021 season.

A day after defensive tackle Tommy Togiai announced his intentions of declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, fellow lineman Antwuan Jackson revealed that he will return to Columbus for one final season with the Buckeyes. It will be his fourth year with the program, and sixth overall after starting his career at Auburn.

Jackson also spent a year at Blinn College before arriving at Ohio State.

Jackson played in eight games for the Buckeyes during the 2021 season, and is credited with 11 tackles on the year. His best game was in the national championship against Alabama, playing nearly 50 snaps and collecting 5 tackles and a sack in the game.

Unfortunately for Ohio State, it wasn’t enough to overcome an explosive Alabama offense, falling 52-24.

There’s a good chance Jackson carves out a substantial role for himself on the defensive line during the 2021 season and could even work his way into the starting rotation. Regardless, with Togiai gone, Jackson’s return is good news for an Ohio State team looking to replace a plethora of talent.
