Is there an upset brewing in the Twin Cities?

Maryland finished off a strong first half against No. 17 Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, owning a 36-27 lead through the first 20 minutes. If the Terrapins can pull off the upset, it would be a huge bounce back victory after falling 87-63 to Michigan on Tuesday.

The Terps opened up a 17-3 lead early in the game and appeared to be on the way to a blowout in the first half. But turnovers on six of the next seven possessions allowed the Gophers to close the gap quickly, creating a bit of a tighter score at the half.

Here are some of the first half highlights for Maryland:

Eric Ayala led the way for the Terrapins in the first half, scoring 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting. He was 2-of-2 from 3-point land, as well. Donta Scott finished the half with 6 points and 5 rebounds.

Marcus Carr was the leading scorer for the Golden Gophers with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Jamal Mashburn Jr. added 9 points off the bench and no other Minnesota player had more than 2 points.
