The Winfield family has already accomplished one of the rarest feats in sports. Both Antoine Winfield Sr. and Antoine Winfield Jr. have played in the NFL, which is an incredibly difficult task to accomplish. But we could see more history made this weekend.

On Sunday, the younger Winfield will suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they play the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. The winner will head to the Super Bowl, scheduled for the first weekend in February.

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, the father-son combination can accomplish something that has never been done.

In Week 4 of the 2009 season, Winfield Sr. intercepted a pass of Aaron Rodgers while with the Minnesota Vikings. If Winfield Jr. was to record a pick against Rodgers in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, they would become the first father-son duo in NFL history to have an interception against the same quarterback.

That would be quite the feat.

Winfield Sr. finished his career with 1,054 tackles, 27 interceptions, 14 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recovers, 7.5 sacks and 5 defensive touchdowns. He was a 3-time Pro Bowl selection.

So far into his rookie season, Winfield Jr. has played really well in Tampa. During the regular season, he tallied 64 stops with 6 pass break-ups, 2 forced fumbles and an interception. We’ll see if he adds to his totals in the NFC Championship Game.
