There are still a number of things set to shake out before we reach April’s NFL Draft, including one big breaking story from Thursday.
Thursday morning, news broke that Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson has officially requested a trade following a tumultuous 2020 season. Ian Rapoport was among those to break the story of Watson’s request.
While the #Texans finalize the hire of David Culley and plan to officially introduce him tomorrow, his first task involves the QB… who wants out. https://t.co/c9Rlbrv5MK

The eventual landing spot of Watson could have a drastic impact on the draft with a number of QB-needy teams that could make the move to acquire Watson instead of deciding to take a young quarterback in the draft. With that in mind, the latest mock draft of Josh Edwards with CBS Sports has a big shakeup.
For starters, Edwards has three quarterbacks – Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars), BYU’s Zach Wilson (Atlanta Falcons), and Ohio State’s Justin Fields (Detroit Lions) – becoming the first three overall picks in the draft. Along with those picks would be a number of trades with the Jets and Dolphins currently holding the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, respectively.
That would certainly be a rather explosive and busy start to this year’s draft.
Here are the rest of the B1G players mocked in the first round by Edwards:
- No. 4 – New York Jets, Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern
- No. 9 – Denver Broncos, Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
- No. 11 – New York Giants, Kwity Paye, DL, Michigan
- No. 26 – Cleveland Browns, Jayson Oweh, EDGE, Penn State
