We’re only three weeks into the 2016 college football season but the College Football Playoff is beginning to take an early form.
USA TODAY columnist Erick Smith released his updated bowl projections on Thursday morning, and he’s predicting that Ohio State will end up being the Big Ten’s representative in the four-team playoff this New Year’s Eve. He’s also picking the Buckeyes to play for their second national title in three years.
In all, 10 Big Ten teams can expect to appear in a postseason game this season, says Smith. (Sorry, Rutgers, Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern.)
Below you’ll find where every bowl-bound program could (but probably won’t, since it’s only Week 4) end up by December:
Fiesta (CFP semifinal): Ohio State vs. Clemson
CFP title game: Alabama vs. Ohio State
Orange: Louisville vs. Michigan State
Rose: Michigan vs. Washington
Outback: Nebraska vs. LSU
Citrus: Wisconsin vs. Ole Miss
Music City: Arkansas vs. Penn State
Foster Farms: Minnesota vs. Utah
Pinstripe: Pittsburgh vs. Maryland
Holiday: Iowa vs. Oregon
Quick Lane: Georgia Tech vs. Indiana
