Ex-Northwestern defensive end Eku Leota is headed to the SEC.

Leota committed to Auburn on Instagram on Saturday afternoon:

This is a tough loss for the Wildcats. Leota put together a strong 2020 campaign, recording four sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble despite the short season.

Leota had his best game of the season vs. Purdue. He produced two sacks and a forced fumble in a 27-20 win over the Boilermakers.

He announced his decision to transfer earlier this month, but did not give specific reasons why. It’s worth noting longtime Northwestern defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz retired after the season.

Other than Hankwitz’s departure, things seem to be relatively stable at Northwestern. Coach Pat Fitzgerald signed a 10-year contract extension earlier this week.
