Ohio State takes care of business vs. Michigan State as E.J. Liddell continues hot streak

Ohio State defeated Michigan State 79-62 on Sunday afternoon.
This was the third straight win for the Buckeyes, who are now 8-4 in Big Ten play and move into a virtual tie for third place with the 6-3 Iowa Hawkeyes.
Forward E.J. Liddell led the way for Ohio State with 20 points and eight rebounds — both game highs. Liddell is in the midst of the best stretch of his career, scoring 20+ points in four of his last five games.

Guard Justice Sueing also poured in 17 points. The Buckeyes got good production from their bench, too, with CJ Walker scoring 10 points and Seth Towns scoring seven points.
Overall, this game came down to making shots. Turnovers, rebounds and assists were all relatively equal, but Ohio State held a big advantage in field goal percentage. The Buckeyes shot 45.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the Spartans shot just 32.1 percent from the field and 20.8 percent from 3-point range.
For Michigan State, Joshua Langford led the way with 14 points. This was the Spartans’ second game back after a COVID-19 outbreak caused multiple cancelations. It was a much better effort than their first game back, a 67-37 loss to Rutgers.
Ohio State’s next game is at No. 7 Iowa on Thursday.
