Ohio State is playing about as well as anyone in college basketball right now.

The 7th-ranked Buckeyes proved it again on Thursday night, taking down No. 8 Iowa 89-85 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It was their fourth-straight victory and seventh win in eight games.

Four Ohio State starters scored in double figures, with E.J Liddell, Duane Washington Jr. and Kyle Young each scoring 16 points. Justice Sueing scored 12 and Kyle Ahrens had 9.

Sueing finished the game with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds.

Ohio State’s defense on Luka Garza was solid, as well, allowing him to score just 16 points.

With the victory over Iowa, Ohio State became the first team in college basketball to post 5 wins over ranked teams. The Buckeyes have wins over Rutgers (twice), Wisconsin, Illinois and now Iowa. All were ranked at the time of the game.

If the Buckeyes continue to stay this hot, they could challenge for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They’ll have more opportunities to prove they belong in that conversation, with ranked opponents like Michigan, Illinois and Iowa still on the schedule.

Ohio State is back in action Monday, when it takes on Maryland.
