Report: Former Michigan OL coach Ed Warinner hired by Group of 5 program

Former Michigan offensive line coach Ed Warinner has reportedly found a soft landing spot at Florida Atlantic, according to a report.
That’s per college football insider Bruce Feldman, who says the Owls are expected to land Warinner’s services.

Warinner was one of several Michigan assistants to be shown the door by coach Jim Harbaugh this offseason. The Wolverines are trying to course correct after a disappointing 2-4 season in 2020.
He was replaced at Michigan by Sherrone Moore, who had previously served as the program’s tight ends coach. Moore played offensive line at Oklahoma in the mid 2000s.
The Owls are led by veteran coach Willie Taggart. FAU also made a high profile hire earlier this offseason by bringing on former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.
Warinner also has coaching experience at Ohio State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Kansas and Illinois, amongst other schools. He’s been a full time position coach or coordinator since 1984. Florida Atlantic will be his first job outside the Power 5 conferences (or Notre Dame) since he coached Air Force’s offensive line from 2000-02.
