Michigan will start preparing for the 2021 football season very soon.

This week, MLive.com reported that the Wolverines will begin their spring practices on Monday, Feb. 22. That’s earlier than usual in Ann Arbor, with the spring season typically beginning in March.

All teams will have a 34 day window from the first day to get to 15 practices, which is the timeframe in an ordinary year, as well. It has been reported that the NCAA is likely to allow teams a longer window to complete those practices if a COVID-19 issue causes a pause or delay.

There’s no word yet whether or not Michigan will conclude the 15 practices with a spring game that is open to the public, which is how the Wolverines typically conclude. Michigan is not alone in this area, as several B1G teams have yet to make an official decision.

The 2020 season was the worst for Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, finishing 2-4. Harbaugh will entering his seventh season with the Wolverines.
