Tom Izzo hints at future changes to Michigan State roster: 'A scholarship is a two-way street'
Tom Izzo sounds pretty open to some offseason changes to the Michigan State roster. The longtime leader of the Spartans was fairly direct when talking about the future of his team in a Thursday press conference.
Michigan State is struggling this season, sitting with a 10-9 record and a 4-9 mark in B1G play. It’s one of the tougher years the Spartans have endured under Izzo’s guidance and there’s a good chance they’re not playing in the NCAA tournament come March.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Izzo hinted at the possibility of some serious roster moves following the 2020-21 season.
“Guys are up for an audition right now. You’ve got to see progress, or there are going to be changes,” Izzo said, per Kyle Austin of MLive.com. “A scholarship is a two-way street. We have an obligation to you, and you have an obligation to us.”
Izzo on the approach to the end of the year: “Guys are up for an audition right now. You’ve got to see progress, or there are going to be changes.” Makes it pretty clear "changes" means transfers

No names were mentioned.
Michigan State has last back-to-back games to Iowa (88-58)n and Purdue (75-65) with five games currently left on the schedule. The Spartans play Indiana, No. 5 Illinois, No. 4 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan remaining, though there could be some rescheduled games coming for MSU.
Clearly, Izzo hasn’t been happy with the development, production or progress made by the team this season. We’ll see if his chat with reporters sparks a fire during the final stretch of the regular season.
