Minnesota has added its second commit to the 2022 recruiting class.

The Gophers received a verbal pledge from 3-star wide receiver Kristen Hoskins, a native of Alexandria, Minnesota. He becomes the second prospect of the cycle to join Minnesota’s class in 2022, joining 4-star DE Trey Bixby. Hoskins announced his decision with a post on Twitter on Friday.

“First and foremost I want to thank all the college coaches who have shown interest in me throughout my recruitment process,” Hoskins wrote. “This decision wasn’t very hard but I would like to announce my commitment to The University of Minnesota. Special thanks to Coach Fleck and his staff for believing in me as a man and athlete.”

Hoskins is listed as a 5-foot-9, 160-pound wide receiver and is ranked as the No. 8 prospect from Minnesota. He’s also listed as the No. 137 receiver in the class, according to 247Sports.

Four other schools offered Hoskins during the recruiting process, and there could be more to come. Minnesota beat Oregon, Purdue, Virginia and Virginia Tech for the pledge from the 3-star receiver.

Hoskins has posted some impressive numbers during his three-year career at the high school level. He’s already totaled 139 catches for 1,862 yards and 22 touchdowns, while also rushing for 59 yards and a score. His most productive year came in 2019, when he racked up 1,009 receiving yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

Last year, Hoskins had 628 yards on 41 catches and scored 9 touchdowns while also totaling 49 rushing yards and scoring his lone touchdowns on the ground.
