False alarm: Deion Sanders’ belongings were ‘misplaced,’ not stolen during Jackson State debut

Deion Sanders had an eventful Sunday afternoon.
First, Sanders’ coaching debut at Jackson State got off to a terrific start with a 53-0 victory over Edward Waters. But by the time, Sanders’ postgame press conference was happening, the mood had shifted.
Sanders initially told reporters that his phone and wallet were stolen out of the locker room during the game. He called it a “malicious and targeted attack,” as no one else’s belongings were missing.

However, it turned out to be a simple miss-understanding. Less than an hour later, it was discovered that his belongings weren’t stolen afterall.
According to Jackson State officials, his phone and wallet were moved for “safe keeping” and have now been returned to Sanders.

They have since been recovered and returned to Sanders.

Thankfully for Sanders, things turned out to not be as serious as initially feared.
As for the game itself, Prime’s team was dominant. Quarterback Jalon Jones completed 18-of-20 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for another score. Defensively, Jackson State held their opponent to 9-of-21 passing and just 21 yards on 29 carries.
Jackson State plays Mississippi Valley State next weekend.
