In just a few weeks, Indiana’s football team will be back on the field.

The Hoosiers announced on Monday that they will be beginning their spring practices on Tuesday, March 9. Indiana will then have 34 days to fit in 15 practices, per NCAA rules. That is the time frame for all programs participating in a spring season.

Indiana is looking to build off strong seasons in 2019 and 2020.

Last year, the Hoosiers finished the regular season with a 6-1 record, winning a thrilling game over Penn State to start the year and defeating Michigan and Wisconsin, ending decades-long losing streaks to both programs. IU’s only loss was a 42-35 decision against Ohio State in Columbus. The Buckeyes went on to play in the national championship.

Indiana dropped its final game of the season to Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl to finish 6-2.

In 2019, IU ended the year with an 8-5 record and earned a spot in the Gator Bowl.

Tom Allen will ben entering his fifth season as the head coach in Bloomington. He’s hoping to keep the Hoosiers near the top of the B1G again in 2021.
