Purdue basketball announced Saturday morning that longtime radio play-by-play man Larry Clisby has passed away. He was 74.

“Heartbroken can’t describe how we feel today,” said Purdue in a statement released on Twitter.

“The Purdue Basketball team mourns the loss of longtime radio voice Larry Clisby. He was a part of our team for over 40 years and as big a part of our program as anyone.”

Head coach Matt Painter also released a statement on Twitter, calling Clisby a “huge part” of the Purdue family:

According to Mike Carmin with the Lafayette Journal & Courier, Clisby was battling lung cancer since 2018. Clisby was at home in Florida when he passed.

Clisby began calling Purdue games in 1984 and called nearly 1,200 games in his career. He officially retired following the 2019-20 season with the Boilermakers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Clisby family and Purdue basketball.
