Minnesota has added another verbal commitment to its 2022 recruiting class.

Over the weekend, the Gophers received a pledge from 3-star quarterback Jacob Knuth, who is ranked as the top overall prospect out of South Dakota for the 2022 cycle. The pro-style passer held offers from Iowa, Iowa State and Kansas State at the Power 5 level, as well as Air Force, Army, South Dakota and South Dakota State at the Group of 5 and FCS levels.

Knuth made his announcement with a post on Twitter Saturday. He’s the third player to commit to the Gophers as a member of the 2022 class and the second pledge P.J. Fleck has landed in February.

Per 247Sports, Knuth is listed as a 6-foot-3, 200-pound pro-style quarterback out of Harrisburg, S.D. He ranks as the No. 38 pro-style passer in the class and the No. 776 overall prospect in the class.

Knuth put up some big numbers during his 2020 season at the high school level. He threw for 2,403 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for 463 yards and 4 touchdowns this past year at Harrisburg.

With the commitment from Knuth, the Gophers rank No. 6 in the B1G with the 2022 class and No. 27 nationally.
