Michigan State planning on more in-person activities, including spectators at sporting events, for fall of 2021

It has started to become expected that sporting events across the country, including those within the B1G, will be much closer to normal this fall.

While most fans are expecting that, Michigan State President Samuel Stanley Jr. confirmed that the university is planning to move forward with more in-person activities, including allowing students and spectators at sporting events on campus. Mark Johnson with the Lansing State Journal provided details of President Stanley’s letter, noting that MSU is planning to host 75% of undergraduate courses in person entering the fall.

The plan is also for fans to be allowed at sporting events in accordance with state requirements and guidelines:

Students and some spectators will be allowed to attend MSU Athletics events as well this fall as allowed by state requirements and guidelines in place at the time.

“Making decisions now about the future of our university is not an easy task, as the pandemic has shown us,” Stanley wrote. “However, with vaccinations continuing to progress, we are optimistic that we can begin to safely transition during the summer and move toward more in-person experiences in the fall — all while continuing to prioritize the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff.”

Hopefully, those plans continue to progress without a hiccup as we move throughout the spring and summer.
