Things are really bad at Purdue. You know it. I know it. Anyone who watches college football knows it.
But things are really starting to boil over on social media. It’s one thing for disgruntled fans or alumni to get snarky about the team’s performance and the coaching situation. It elevates to another level when former players start getting involved.
That’s what happened after the Boilermakers got beat 50-7 by Maryland.
Former safety Albert Evans (2008-2011) and defensive tackles Matt Mitrione (1997-2001) took to Twitter during Saturday’s embarrassing loss, voicing their displeasure with Darrell Hazell and the current Purdue coaching staff.

How could I (who's NOT a 🏈 coach) be less successful than @BoilerFootball head coach? 8-31. 3 of those wins coming from FCS TEAMS #WeRaJoke

Mitrione was a member of Purdue’s Rose Bowl team in 2000.
Former punter Cody Webster, who spent one year under Hazell, was pleading for recently-fired coach Les Miles to pack his bags for West Lafayette:

Typically former players show support for the guys on the sidelines. After Saturday’s performance, it doesn’t look like anyone has the back of Darrell Hazell.
