Meyers Leonard disciplined, fined by NBA for use of anti-Semitic slur

The NBA is fining and suspending Meyers Leonard following his use of an anti-Semitic slur.
On Tuesday, the video of Leonard’s comments surfaced that were made during his Twitch live stream. Leonard was live streaming while playing Call of Duty at the time of his comments.
Thursday morning, Shams Charania with The Athletic shared the details of the NBA’s punishment. Leonard has been fined $50,000 by the league and will also be suspended from Miami Heat team activities and facilities for a week.
Leonard will also be required to go through a cultural diversity program:

Leonard did apologize on Tuesday following the video being shared on social media. He remains sidelined for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Leonard is in his ninth NBA season after playing two seasons for Illinois. He finished his Illini career averaging 7.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 65 career games. He started 49 games for the Heat during the 2019-20 season.
