Roy Williams passed a B1G legend on the all-time wins list on Thursday night.
North Carolina recorded an 81-73 victory over Virginia Tech on Thursday night to advance to the semifinal round of this year’s ACC Tournament. That win marked No. 903 for Williams in his coaching career, passing Bob Knight for third all-time in Division I college basketball.
Williams has been the head coach at North Carolina since the 2003-04 season. During his time in Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels are 485-161 with 9 ACC regular season titles, 3 ACC Tournament championships and 3 national titles.

Before arriving at North Carolina, Williams was at Kansas from 1988-2003. He was 418-101 with the Jayhawks and won 9 conference regular season titles while in Lawrence.
Knight was the head coach at Army, Indiana and Texas Tech but won a majority of his 902 games while in Bloomington. He was the head coach of the Hoosiers from 1971-2000 and posted a record of 662-239, winning 11 B1G regular season titles and 3 NCAA championships.
From 1965-71 Knight was the head coach at Army, compiling a 102-50 record and he spent 2001-08 at Texas Tech, posting a record of 138-82.
