For some reason, there was an odd rumor surrounding Nebraska on Thursday.
Somebody told somebody who told somebody that the Huskers were interested in returning to the Big 12.
I was told today members of the #BIGXII are willing to let #OU walk because Nebraska has expressed serious interest in rejoining league…

Yeah, about that.
Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst made sure that rumor never got any ounce of momentum:

Nebraska came into the B1G in the beginning of the 2011 season, which meant that the conference got to split into divisions and have a conference title game.
The Huskers haven’t had the success that they had in the Big 12, but they’ve benefitted financially from the ever-profitable Big Ten Network. The Big 12, on the other hand, is just coming around to the idea of expansion and a conference-wide cable network.
Did Eichorst even have to tweet that? No, but hey, why let a dumb rumor linger?
