Northwestern has received its first pledge from the 2022 recruiting class, and it’s a big one.
Wednesday, the Wildcats received a verbal pledge from 4-star wide receiver Reggie Fleurima out of Naperville, Illinois. He is the first player of the 2022 recruiting cycle to commit to Pat Fitzgerald and company.
“I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me each step of the way with this important decision,” Fleurima wrote on Twitter. “With that being said, I would like to announce that I am committing to Northwestern University!”

According to 247Sports, Fleurima ranks as a Top 5 player from Illinois and is the No. 32 receiver in the 2022 class. Overall, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound wideout ranks No. 234, earning him the 4-star ranking.
Fleurima received over a dozen offers during the recruiting process, several of which came from the B1G. He chose Northwestern over offers from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State and Purdue out of the league.
Outside the B1G, Fleurima received interest from Cincinnati, Missouri, Oregon State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
Even though he’s the only player committed in Northwestern’s class currently, Fleurima’s commitment gives the Wildcats the No. 10 ranked class in the B1G for the 2022 cycle.
