Nebraska announces departure of basketball staffer

Nebraska has announced that one of its staffers has moved on from the program to explore opportunities in coaching.
The athletic department announced that Bobby Lutz, special assistant to head coach Fred Hoiberg, is leaving Nebraska to pursue other opportunities in coaching. He has been a member of the Huskers staff in a special role for the last two seasons.
In a statement released by Lutz, he said that there was an expectation that the NCAA would allow a fourth assistant coach to be involved in games and practices. However, with the association dragging its feet on that issue, Lutz has decided to explore opportunities where he might have a more integral role with a team.
Lutz primarily helped Hoiberg and the Nebraska staff with game-planning, day-to-day operations and non-conference scheduling in his role. His desire to be more involved with the coaching aspect of college basketball is the primary reason for his departure.
Nebraska finished the 2020-21 college basketball season with a 7-20 record.
