NCAA declares Oregon-VCU a no contest due to COVID-19 issues

Oregon’s matchup with Virginia Commonwealth has been declared a no contest due to COVID-19, the NCAA has announced.
The issues are with VCU, so that means the Ducks will now advance to the second round.

That fits the NCAA’s previously-stated for what would happen if a COVID-19 outbreak did occur. At this point, it’s unclear if the problem is more widespread.
This is the first NCAA Tournament game to be called off due to COVID-19. The only other issue the NCAA has had so far was six officials being ruled out for the Big Dance due to one positive test and subsequent contact tracing.
The Ducks were favored to win this game, but it’s still a disappointment that it won’t be played. Tip-off was set for 9:57 p.m. ET later Saturday night.
Oregon will now face the winner of Iowa-Grand Canyon on Monday.
