They don’t call it March Madness for nothing.

When Saturday night’s games came to an end, a total of nine teams with a double-digit seed won a first-round game in the NCAA Tournament. It’s been quite a start to the event for teams with a “Cinderella” status.

Below are the nine teams that advanced to the Round of 32, and which teams they defeated to make it into the next round:

Friday, March 19

  • No. 15 Oral Roberts def. No. 2 Ohio State 75-72 (OT)
  • No. 12 Oregon State def. No. 5 Tennessee 70-56
  • No. 13 North Texas def. No. 4 Purdue 78-69 (OT)
  • No. 10 Rutgers def. No. 7 Clemson 60-56
  • No. 11 Syracuse def. No. 6 San Diego State 78-62

Saturday, March 20

  • No. 10 Maryland def. No. 7 UConn 63-54
  • No. 13 Ohio def. No. 4 Virginia 62-58
  • No. 11 UCLA def. No. 6 BYU 73-62
  • No. 14 Abilene Christian def. No. 3 Texas 53-52
