Badgers star D’Mitrik Trice sends farewell message to Wisconsin

Wisconsin star guard and leading scorer D’Mitrik Trice has penned a farewell message to his school, teammates and fans. The message on social media was sent out following the Badgers’ loss to Baylor on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

“Thank you Lord for the trials and tribulations that have molded this team into the men we are today,” Trice wrote on Twitter. “It’s been a blessing to play for [Wisconsin] and although this chapter of our lives is closing, another is opening up! Thank you Badger Nation.”

Though the NCAA has allowed any student-athletes to return for another season, it does not appear Trice will take that opportunity.

Trice averaged 13.9 points and 4.0 assists per game during the 2020-21 season, leading the team in both categories. He also averaged a team-best 33.3 minutes per game and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

In his Wisconsin finale against Baylor, Trice scored 12 points, had 4 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds. The Badgers fell 76-63 to the Bears to end their season at 18-13.

Trice was Stellar in Wisconsin’s blowout win over North Carolina in the first round of March Madness. He dropped in 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in an 85-62 victory.

Trice was a fifth-year senior for the Badgers, playing in 143 career games and averaging 10.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
