Oklahoma, Lincoln Riley slowing process for ex-Sooners QB who transferred to TCU

Oklahoma and head coach Lincoln Riley are making the transfer process for former Sooners quarterback Chandler Morris pretty difficult. Riley confirmed on Wednesday that they have not released Morris, who transferred to TCU.
Wednesday, Riley told reporters that he and Oklahoma do not believe players should be immediately eligible after transferring within a conference. That’s the reason why Morris has not been released by the program.
“This particular situation, for us, is about something that we believe in — myself, the leadership here at OU — we think it’s unhealthy for college football to encourage intraconference transfers,” Riley said, according to ESPN. “That’s something that we’ve been adamantly opposed to for a long time. I get the landscape is changing. We’re certainly watching that and we will adapt as the world changes, but this has nothing to do with that or with the person. Chandler Morris did a tremendous job here; he’s a terrific young man.”
TCU head coach Gary Patterson recently told reporters that Morris was competing for the starting job with Max Duggan but “he still hasn’t been released by Oklahoma.”
Morris was a freshman quarterback at Oklahoma in 2020 and transferred after the season came to an end. He threw 5 passes, completing 3 for 39 yards and rushed for 44 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 carries.
