The longer Indiana’s coaching search continues, the more players are starting to explore their options elsewhere.

In the two weeks since Archie Miller was fired as the head coach at IU, five players have entered the NCAA transfer portal, with the most recent coming on Thursday. Jordan Geronimo became the fifth Hoosier to enter his name into the database in the last two weeks, making an announcement via social media.

“Dear Hoosier Nation, First, I want to thank Indiana Basketball for contributing to my growth as a basketball player and a person,” Geronimo wrote. “However after some deep thought and long conversations, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with the possibility of returning.”

Geronimo joins Al Durham, Armaan Franklin, Parker Stewart and Race Thompson to enter the transfer portal. All five could return to Indiana if that’s the best option, though it will likely depend on who the athletic department hires to be the next head coach.

Geronimo is a 6-foot-6 freshman out of Newark, New Jersey and appeared in 21 of Indiana’s 27 games in 2020-21. He averaged 8.1 minutes, 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest for the Hoosiers. The freshman scored a career high 7 points in Indiana’s 81-69 victory over Iowa on Jan. 21.

Indiana ended the season with a 12-15 record, losing its final six games.
