Indiana freshman guard, former 5-star prospect is sixth Hoosier to hit transfer portal

Another day has passed and another Indiana basketball player is in the NCAA transfer portal.

Friday, Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported that freshman guard and former 5-star prospect Khristian Lander has entered his name into the database. He becomes the sixth member of the Hoosiers basketball team to do so since IU fired head coach Archie Miller after four seasons.

Last week, Al Durham became the first player to enter the portal and penning a farewell message to Indiana. This week, five more players have entered, though they all seem to be keeping a return to Bloomington as an option, depending on who is named head coach.

Armaan Franklin, Race Thompson, Jordan Geronimo and Parker Stewart have also hit the portal.

Lander is a native of Evansville, Indiana and was a 5-star prospect in the 2021 class. He was the top player from his home state and ranked No. 27 nationally. He reclassified for the 2020 season, joining the Hoosiers for the past season.

In his lone season with the program, Lander played in 26 games and averaged 10.2 minutes per contest. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 assists for Indiana as a true freshman. IU ended the year with a 12-15 record, missing the NCAA Tournament.

Lander will have four years of eligibility remaining.
