Michigan State continues to utilize the transfer portal this offseason, adding a commitment from an intriguing wide receiver prospect Saturday afternoon.

The player is Christian Fitzpatrick, a member of the 2020 recruiting class that spent last season with Louisville. He did not log any stats as a freshman.

A 6-foot-4 receiver, Fitzpatrick shared his commitment via his personal Twitter account:

What makes the commitment intriguing is heading to East Lansing turns into a bit of a homecoming for Fitzpatrick. He committed to Louisville as a three-star prospect out of Southfield, Michigan. Fitzpatrick also had offers from Ball State, Buffalo, Boston College, and Washington State, among others.

According to Corey Robinson with 247 Sports, Fitzpatrick said the Spartans were one of the teams most anxious to see his game film and begin building a relationship upon his entry into the portal. After speaking with the MSU coaching staff, Fitzpatrick talked with other schools but only seriously considered a few before landing on the Spartans.

It will be interesting to see how he develops and whether or not he carves out a role for himself entering the 2021 season this fall.
