Expect to hear Kwity Paye’s name called pretty early in the NFL Draft later this month. That’s the expectation from ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay.

According to Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News, McShay said that Paye will be “either the first or second edge rusher off the board” in the NFL Draft. That’s pretty high praise for the former Wolverine.

Paye ended his career at Michigan in 2020 by totaling 16 tackles, 4 for loss and 2 sacks. He also recorded 5 QB hurries, but didn’t get much recognition for his contributions on the field after the Wolverines finished with a 2-4 record.

That has changed during the offseason. Paye has been labeled a first-round pick by nearly every NFL analyst and is considered to be one of the best defensive ends in this year’s draft class. He could potentially make a quick impact for the right franchise, too.

In his career in Ann Arbor, Paye piled up 97 stops, 23.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks in four years. He was a member of multiple defensive lines under Don Brown that were revered as some of the best in the B1G.

Now, Paye waits to see where he lands in the NFL Draft. And if McShay is right, he won’t have to wait very long before he knows his next stop.
