Wisconsin linebacker Noah Burks is not currently participating in spring practice because of COVID-19 protocols, he told reporters on Friday. He also had to be in isolation/quarantine because of the situation.

Burks met with the media on Friday and said he hasn’t been practicing because of the protocols, per Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The linebacker is now out of isolation and is closer to a return, though it’s unclear when he’ll be able to rejoin the team for spring ball.

Burks played in all seven games for Wisconsin last season, piling up 18 tackles, a sack and an interception. His best game of the year came in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against Wake Forest, totaling 6 stops and intercepting a pass in the win.

The Badgers finished the season 4-3.

Over the course of his career at Wisconsin, Burks has collected 62 tackles with 8 for loss, 4 pass break-ups, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble. He’s one of the more experienced linebackers on the Badgers’ roster and should have a big role during the 2021 season.
