A Dallas-area shooting on Sunday morning has claimed the life of 17-year-old Tony Evans Jr., who was a Wyoming football recruit. The Dallas Morning News was one of the first to report the tragic news.
Per the report, Evans and another individual were shot early Sunday morning in a hotel room at a Hawthorn Suites near Dallas. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where Evans was pronounced dead. The other person wounded is in stable condition.
Evans signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Wyoming in February. He was a member of the 2021 recruiting class and was listed as a 3-star athlete.
The Dallas Morning News reported that nobody had been taken into custody for the shootings and the cause of the incident is currently unknown.
Evans attended Lancaster High School in Texas.
