Video: Northwestern’s Joe Gaziano lays punishing hit on Spartan QB for safety

Michigan State’s Brian Lewerke probably wishes Tyler O’Connor was under center for this one.
Down 17-14 in the second quarter, Northwestern the Spartans pinned deep in their own territory and were looking to make a big play. The Wildcats certainly got one.
It didn’t take Northwestern defensive end Joe Gaziano shed the blocker and lay the lumber on Lewerke in the end zone for a safety to draw the Wildcats within in.
Lewerke’s ears might still be ringing after that hit.
