The future is looking pretty bright in Columbus.
Saturday, Ohio State put a bow on spring practice by hosting its annual spring game in front of a crowd of just over 19,000. It was the first time since the end of the 2019 season fans have been able to see the Buckeyes live in action, and there didn’t appear to be any disappointment.
Receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson were in midseason form, quarterbacks C.J. Stroud, Kyle McCord and Jack Miller III all had strong showings, freshman defensive end Jack Sawyer had a huge day and Ohio State’s offensive line played pretty well throughout the game. It might be just a spring game, but there was plenty to like.

Even without some of last season’s top contributors, the Buckeyes looked really strong.
It’s hard to invest too much into a spring game, especially one without live tackling. But Ohio State’s offense looked great throughout the afternoon and the defense made some plays. It’s going to be a fun team to keep an eye on this season.
Ohio State’s 2021 season is scheduled to start on Thursday, Sept. 2 with a road game against Minnesota.
