The decision is in for No. 1 ranked basketball recruit Chet Holmgren.
On Monday, Holmgren announced that he has committed to Gonzaga. The 7-foot center from Minneapolis had been considering three B1G programs: Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State. Other contenders were Georgetown, Memphis and North Carolina.
Holmgren is the No. 1 overall player in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports. He joins a Gonzaga team that came close to finishing out a perfect college basketball season, but the Bulldogs lone loss came in the national championship to Baylor.
With Holmgren’s commitment, Gonzaga’s 2021 recruiting class ranks No. 2 nationally and the Bulldogs have four prospects committed for the cycle. All of the pledges are ranked as Top 100 overall talents, according to 247Sports.

Gonzaga had been the favorite to land Holmgren for awhile, but with the coaching change at Minnesota and the strong recruiting ability of Juwan Howard and Chris Holtmann, the three B1G programs were all in contention.
