Brandon Peters impressive early in Illinois’ spring game

Brandon Peters looks pretty sharp in Illinois’ spring game.
It might be a scrimmage and it might be against the second-team defense, but the two-year Illinois starter was hitting his targets regularly through the first quarter of Monday night’s spring game from Champaign. That’s a good sign for the Illini offense, which has had its struggles recently.
Peters hit multiple receivers and tight ends throughout the first quarter, throwing one touchdown pass and rushing for another in the early phase of the scrimmage. It was exactly the kind of performance you’d hope to see out of a seasoned quarterback in this type of situation.

Last season, Peters threw for 429 yards and rushed for 136 more while accounting for 4 touchdowns while playing in 5 games. He did miss three games because of injury.
In two seasons at Illinois, Peters has 2,313 passing yards, 349 rushing yards and has accounted for 25 total touchdowns.
