Son of Hoosiers RBs coach transferring to Indiana from Miami (OH)

The son of newly hired Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough is transferring into the program.

On Saturday, Deland McCullough II announced on Twitter that he is leaving Miami (OH) and will be heading to Indiana. The news comes after the defensive back spent the last two seasons suiting up for the RedHawks. He was a member of the team’s 2019 recruiting class.

McCullough, listed as a 6-foot-1, 192-pound defensive back, played in three career games at Miami but did not record any statistics. Using a redshirt year in 2019 and with the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all student-athletes, he will have four years of eligibility remaining and can play immediately for the Hoosiers.

As a high school recruit, McCullough was a 3-star athlete who ranked as one of the Top 15 players out of Kansas. He held offers from 17 programs during the recruiting process.

McCullough is now the second son of Indiana’s running backs coach to commit to the program. The Hoosiers also landed a commitment from Deah McCullough, a 4-star running back in the 2023 class.
