Nebraska OF Cam Chick pulls off Superman-esque diving catch in win over MSU

Nebraska baseball needed extra innings to get a win on Sunday, but the Huskers were able to get there due to some elite defense by their outfield.

With a win over Michigan State, Nebraska etched its seventh consecutive series win on the season. It was a 12-inning grinder against the Spartans with Nebraska’s defense proving to be clutch late.

The highlight-reel catch of the game came courtesy of outfield Cam Chick in the bottom of the eighth. With the game tied at six, Chick raced down a ball in the gap and went full extension to rob the Spartans of extra bases.

The catch is sure to envoke images of Superman as Chick went flying to make the grab:

That play kept the game tied as it eventually went into extra’s, but it was far from the only defensive gem by the Huskers. Centerfielder Jaxon Hallmark gunned down what would have been the game-winning run for Michigan State in the bottom of the 11th.

Hallmark’s throw barely beat the Spartan runner in a bang-bang play at the plate:

After the Huskers took a 9-6 lead in the top of the 12th, Chick made another appearance on the highlight reel. This time, Chick made a diving catch to put the finishing touches on the victory:
