Northwestern has landed its third pledge of the 2022 recruiting class.

Monday, the Wildcats received a verbal commitment from 3-star offensive tackle Danny McGuire, a 6-foot-5, 270-pound Chicago native. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

“First off I would like to thank every school who has recruited me and welcomed me into their programs. Thank you to my parents for their endless support throughout this whole process,” McGuire wrote. “With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to Northwestern University!!”

According to 247Sports,  McGuire ranks as the No. 6 player out of Illinois and is the No. 51 offensive tackle in the class. He’s listed just outside the Top 500 overall prospects in the cycle, coming in at No. 529.

Nearly two dozen programs have offered McGuire, most of which were at the Power 5 level. He committed to Northwestern over other B1G offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State an Minnesota. Other programs to show interest included Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas Tech and West Virginia.

Pat Fitzgerald has now secured three verbal commitments in the 2022 recruiting class, all three are in-state products. Northwestern’s class currently ranks 55th nationally and 11th in the B1G.
