Nebraska reveals date to break ground on new football facility

The wait is almost over. Nebraska has announced that it will break ground on its new football facility later this week.
On Tuesday, the school announced that the groundbreaking for the new facility is set for Friday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m. CT. It will be one day before the Huskers are scheduled to take the field at Memorial Stadium for the annual spring game on Saturday, May 1.
Nebraska’s project, which was initially scheduled to begin last year, was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Omaha World-Herald, the Nebraska University Board of Regents recently approved a physical downsizing of the first phase of the project, but the price tag will still come in at $155 million.
Speakers at the event will include head coach Scott Frost, athletic director Bill Moos, University of Nebraska-Lincoln chancellor Ronnie Green and University of Nebraska president Ted Carter.
The projected is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
