Week 7 saw a lot of highly ranked teams fall. But it also Rutgers claim its first B1G win under Chris Ash and the revival of Michigan State running back LJ Scott. Here are the 10 things I am absolutely overreacting to after Week 7 in the B1G:

1. Ohio State was the nail in the coffin for Mike Riley

Nebraska fell behind 35-o in the first half to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Cornhuskers lost 38-17 to Wisconsin last week and got blown out by Ohio State, 56-14, this week.

Due to debacle, Nebraska fans were calling for head coach Mike Riley’s job.

The Cornhuskers are 18-14 under Riley and with an interim AD at the helm now, the Ohio State loss looked like the nail in the coffin of the Riley era.

2. Michigan won’t last long against Penn State next week

The Wolverines spent much of Saturday struggling to put away the Indiana Hoosiers, a team that Michigan should have won easily against. Now, the Wolverines must take on the Penn State Nittany Lions next week.

On the season, Penn State has looked dominant. The Nittany Lions arguably boost the best 1-2 offensive punch in all of college football in quarterback Trace McSorley and running back Saquon Barkley.

Yes, Michigan does have a good defense. However, if the Wolverines continue to perform like they have during the first half of the season, the maize and blue will struggle to do anything against the Nittany Lions.

3. Jonathan Taylor is the best Wisconsin running back since Ron Dayne

There is no denying it, freshman back Jonathan Taylor has been one of the biggest surprises of the B1G season. And the young Wisconsin runner is looking like the Badgers’ best back since Ron Dayne. So far, Taylor has out rushed Dayne 986 yards to 551 yards and five more touchdowns.

Now, there is no telling if Taylor is going to run for 2,000 plus yards like Dayne did his freshman year. But he has been nightmare and has looked like Wisconsin’s best back since Dayne.

4. Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson is the B1G’s best wide receiver

Golden Gopher receiver Tyler Johnson has been electric this season. On the year, Johnson has recorded 425 yards, six touchdowns and is averaging 18.6 yards per reception, which is the highest in the B1G.

Now, Johnson does have some competition like Maryland’s D.J. Moore and Nebraska’s Stanley Morgan. However, Johnson can single handily change a course of a game. Saturday night against the Michigan State Spartans, Johnson helped the Golden Gophers get back into the game thanks to 108 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Without Johnson, who knows where Minnesota would be this season.

5. Minnesota needs a quarterback

While Johnson has been the B1G’s best pass catcher, imagine if he had a quarterback.

Minnesota quarterbacks have been inconsistent this year. Conor Rhoda and Demry Croft barely complete 50 percent of his passes, 54 and 56 respectively. And with Rhoda, he has a turnover problem. He has a 5-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

The Golden Gophers need to figure out their quarterback issue if they want to take step in the rebuilding process.

6. Illinois is the worst team in the country

Some would say that the Kansas Jayhawks are the worst Power 5 program in the country. I mean, Kansas did just lose to Iowa State by 45 points. However, after Saturday, Illinois officially became the worst Power 5 program.

The Fighting Illini loss to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 35-24. And the way Illinois loss was embarrassing.

Although the Illini out gained the Scarlet Knights on Saturday, they were never a real threat. Rutgers was very comparable to Illinois and the orange and blue just never were on the same level. Sorry Illini fans, football season is officially over.

7. LJ Scott is officially back

LJ Scott was destined to be the next Le’Veon Bell after his freshman year. But due to fumbling issues his sophomore year, people dismissed him. However, against Minnesota, the Michigan State back regained his freshman form and looked dominant.

Scott was a powerful downhill runner against the Golden Gophers, running for 194 yards (a career high) and two scores. If Scott is able to build off this performance, he become the next great Spartan back like he was perceived as and Michigan State could have a special year.

8. The B1G could get two teams into the playoffs

College Football experienced a ton of upsets this weekend. Clemson, Washington, Auburn and Washington State all suffered defeats. That means the playoff picture is wide open.

With the way Penn State and Ohio State have looked so far, plus as I mentioned with the playoff picture wide open, it would not be surprising to see the B1G get two teams in the Final Four this season.

9. Tennessee should start looking Jeff Brohm

There have been reports that Tennessee’s loss to South Carolina was the nail in the coffin for Butch Jones.

If that is the case, I’ll just leave our own Connor O’Gara’s advice for Tennessee next coach (Purdue’s Jeff Brohm).

10. Rutgers is on the up-and-up

Chris Ash got his first B1G win at Rutgers. I think that is cause for saying the Scarlet Knights are on the up-and-up in its own right.
