With the 2022 college football season right around the corner, a number of publications are in the process of compiling pre-season award lists.
On Monday, the Walter Camp Football Foundation unveiled its selections for the first- and second-team votes for All-American. 50 players are represented across 32 schools and 8 conferences.
Out of the B1G, a pair of Buckeyes highlighted the first-team offense. Rutgers’ punter Adam Korsak was the only first-team defense nod out of the conference.
One item that is sure to draw a little bit of debate is the quarterback position. Reigning Heisman winner, Alabama’s Bryce Young, was the first-team QB selected. However, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud – a 4th-place finisher in Heisman voting last year – was bypassed for USC QB Caleb Williams on the second-team list.
Here are the 13 players from the B1G to be nominated:
First-team Offense
WR – Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ohio State
OL – Peter Skoronski, Northwestern
RB – TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State
PK – Jake Moody, Michigan
First-team Defense
P – Adam Korsak, Rutgers
Second-team Offense
OL – John Michael Schmitz, Minnesota
OL – Dawand Jones, Ohio State
C – Olusegun Oluwatimi, Michigan
RB – Blake Corum, Michigan
PK – Noah Ruggles, Ohio State
Second-team Defense
DL – Jacob Slade, Michigan State
DB – Riley Moss, Iowa
KR – Charlie Jones, Purdue
