2 B1G linemen named semifinalists for prestigious Outland Trophy
Two B1G players are still in the running for one of the nation’s top individual awards.
The award up for grabs is the Outland Trophy, an award given annually to the best interior lineman on offense or defense. Six semifinalists were unveiled Monday evening with five offensive linemen and just one lone defensive lineman.
Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis was the B1G’s first representative and that is no great surprise. The junior has been exceptional and is a true anchor for the Buckeyes along the offensive line.
The other representative for the B1G is the lone defender to be named a semifinalist in Iowa’s Daviyon Nixon. He is also having a remarkable season with 5.0 sacks and 11.5 TFL for the Hawkeye defense.
The other semifinalists are center Landon Dickerson and tackle Alex Leatherwood of Alabama, tackle Liam Eichenberg of Notre Dame, and guard Kenyon Green of Texas A&M.
