2 B1G running backs dominating 8+ man boxes this season, says PFF
Some running backs get neutralized when the opposing teams stack the box against them. Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen and Michigan’s Blake Corum aren’t some running backs.
They currently lead the NCAA in yards against 8 or more man boxes with 363 and 335 according to PFF, respectively.
No college football team has seemed have an answer for the two B1G backs. Allen is coming off a 148 yard, 2 touchdown performance while Corum is fresh off a 243 yard, 2 touchdown performance.
So space or no space, these running backs have been capable of picking up yards either way. The two sit near the top of the B1G’s rushing yards leaders. Corum sits at the top of college football in touchdowns with 9 while Allen sits not too far behind with 6.
Allen and the Badgers will face Illinois in Week 5, while Corum and the Wolverines are set for a 2021 B1G Championship rematch with Iowa.
