A pair of former B1G assistants with stops at multiple schools in the conference are reportedly targets to join Marcus Freeman as a part of his inaugural coaching staff at Notre Dame.

According to John Brice with FootballScoop.com, Jacksonville Jaguars safeties coach Chris Ash and Tennessee DC Tim Banks are candidates to take the DC job for the Irish:

So who are among Freeman’s top candidates? Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Iowa State defensive coordinator Jon Heacock, Auburn defensive coordinator Derek Mason, Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks, current Jacksonville Jaguars safeties coach and former college defensive coordinator Chris Ash, and current Cincinnati Bengals linebackers coach Al Golden, the former Miami and Temple head coach are all under consideration and that Freeman also is holding some options close to the vest.

Both Ash and Banks have been around the B1G. Ash has stops as an assistant at Wisconsin and Ohio State on his resume and was a head coach at Rutgers for parts of 4 seasons. Banks has previous stops at Maryland, Illinois, and Penn State as an assistant.
