How much do recruiting rankings matter? Everyone might be striving to get that five-star ranking, but that doesn’t mean it’s essential to get to the NFL.

Thursday night, the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft was conducted, making dreams come true for 32 college football stars. And while those recruiting rankings are now in the rearview mirror, it’s still fun to take a look and see where some of the top picks stood in star ratings.

Based on 247Sports’ Composite rankings, we looked at how many stars all 32 first-round draft picks had as a high school prospects. This year, everyone had at least a three-star ranking and there were no unranked recruits who were selected in the first round. Here’s how it breaks down by star ranking:

  • 5-star: 6
  • 4-star: 15
  • 3-star: 11
